AIM is the premier company creating an autonomous rail intermodal system that will provide the greenest mode of freight transportation at every step for the movement of containers and trailers. Founder, Jim Wilson has 46 years of railroad experience in operations planning and execution, terminal operations, technology design, and rolling stock development. 

The vision for Autonomous Intermodal, LLC is to develop the rail intermodal logistics system of the future.  AIM is focused on:

• Next level of safety in all new equipment, operations, and technology.

• New equipment to move containers and trailers.

• New traction equipment to move integral trains of containers and trailers.

• New equipment for yard/dray tractors, chassis, and trailers.

• New autonomous methods for railroad and terminal operations.

• New technology applications for autonomous operations, customer interface, component health, safety, and security monitoring.

The next generation of rail intermodal equipment and technology for railroads and their customers has to deliver the following:

• Consistent truck competitive service for customers.

• Reliable rail equipment for railroad train and terminal operations.

• Faster container/trailer train turn times in ports and terminals.

• Technology to provide command and control execution information.

• Technology interfaces and data sorting to meet customer logistics information requirements.

AIM will take advantage of rail intermodal being 3 to 4 times more fuel efficient than trucks and reduce fuel consuption. AIM products will also improve capacity at terminal facilities by turning equipment faster with autonomous tractors for in terminal/port and first/last mile movements in urban and suburban areas. AIM is looking beyond fossil fuels for our equipment energy sources, electric-battery-hydrogen-solar.
